At times, a more in-depth analysis of all of the puzzle pieces is best to help choose your path. Sometimes, you simply want a second opinion.
A diagnostic evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of your overall functioning to determine whether you have a mental health disorder requiring treatment. This is the first step in all of my therapeutic services.
Diagnostic evaluations consist of in-depth interviewing and screening questionnaires to make a mental health diagnosis. We will discuss the nature of your concerns and any needed background history. You and your child will be interviewed about the family, development background, medical history including previous treatment, social experiences, interests and strengths, and any recent stressors. If you would like to schedule a parent-only session to provide sensitive background history, please notify me to request a parent-only session as well as a session including the child. Please bring any paperwork from the child’s school or previous psychological evaluations
At the conclusion of the hour-long session, I will present my treating diagnosis and recommendations. You are encouraged to ask questions, offer suggestions, provide input, and share your ideas about the diagnosis and for how treatment might work best for you and/or your child.
Please note, at this time, I am not conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations.
